Happy holidays from our family to yours! This is a time of year that many of us reflect back over the year, and our lives, and we hope that you find positive moments and memories and hold them close! This can be a challenging time of year for many, but together as a community we can offer an inclusive, safe and welcoming space for all to enjoy. In Canada our communities are growing and changing, but from our vantage point the core values that make Kingston and Area so special —caring for our neighbours and community, have not wavered. In fact, we believe they have improved! Unfortunately, Canadian statistics still show that almost 10% of all households, including those with children, adults and seniors, are still food insecure-- meaning they are not sure where their next meal is coming from. This is generally due to insufficient funds. This has to change; and until it does, our wish is that Martha’s will be there to help with food and friendship. We’d like to thank you for your previous support; it has been a privilege to serve with you. We ask that if you find yourself in a position to offer Martha’s assistance in 2019/2020, it would be greatly appreciated, and needed, to help our neighbours live healthier and happier lives. Goal: in 2020 and into 2021 we are setting our sites on being open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days per week. We want to serve the community on Saturday and Sunday! With your partnership, we hope to make this a reality and ensure that people can eat, stay warm/cool and connected every day. (if you, or you know someone that would like to help on the weekend please let us know! We would love to work with you on this project!)
